It’s been a little over a month since our move down the street to 723 Cold Spring Rd and we’ve settled in quite nicely. It already feels like home. If you’re in the area stop in and visit. Marlene, Jean, Betsy, Carol and I would also like to express our continued thanks and appreciation for your continued patronage and support. We hope to continue to serve you well.
Just a quick note that we will be closed Easter Sunday, April 20. Sorry for the inconvenience.
We’ve had a busy month already. We were vendors at the Empire Quilt Show in Clifton Park, NY and the Pioneer Valley Quilt Show in Springfield. We saw some of you at the shows and met many new people. Quilters are great people!! We also saw many new ideas and hope to bring some new items to the shop.
We have some beautiful new fabrics in the shop and getting new fabrics, patterns, books and notions every week. Check out Moda’s Printemps and Hearty Good Wishes as well as Northcott’s Stratford Park. We also have some new batiks, flannels, reproductions, basics and 30’s fabric. We also found a cute group of patterns called Patch Abilities. These are small applique patterns that work up quick and are so cute. We’ve sold quite a few but continue to bring more into the shop.
Finally we continue to work on our event and class schedule. . I want to highlight some special events/classes that are coming up.
We’ve had many requests for a class on the 10 Minute Block Quilt. Marlene has made two samples using both 10 inch and 5 inch blocks. This is a great way to use scrapes or use a specific fabric line. Marlene says it really only takes 10 minutes to make the block. We have patterns and books using this technique. The class will be Saturday, April 26.
Many people continue to ask for a T-Shirt Class. We’ve scheduled another 2 part class for Thursdays, April 24 and May 1. Betsy will again lead this class in taking old t-shirts or other memorable garments and turn them into special quilts.
On Saturday, May 11 Sharon Shorey will be teaching Paper Piecing. You’ll be making a sampler of Sharon’s miniature patterns. Once you make these different patterns, you’ll be able to use this technique for any paper pieced pattern. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn this technique from Sharon.
Sandy Holzer will be joining us on Saturday, May 17 to share some new techniques called “Disappearing Act”. Three very different and versatile blocks will be demonstrated and constructed by workshop participants. Sandy has led many workshops and authored “Streaks of Batiks”. Join us in what should be an educational and enjoyable afternoon.
Check out our WEBSITE www.karensquiltcorner.com to see our entire class selection. Some of the classes include, placemats, Annita’s Arrowhead, Carpenter Star, Chenille and Graffiti. We’re also in the process of scheduling some additional classes such as applique, free motion quilting, rope baskets, delectable mountains and four patch posie.
