Upcoming Classes at Karen's

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and wishing you the best for 2016.

Now that we've settled into winter and are back to our regular schedule, it's time to take some time for yourself.  Treat yourself to something special.  We have some great classes coming up.  Take a look at what we're offering over the next few weeks.    Sign up with a friend or come meet new ones.

As always, if you have any ideas of classes that you would like, please let us know and we'll put something together for you. We also add new classes and Open Sews on a regular basis so keep checking the WEBSITE or the Shop for more information.

ENGLISH PAPER PIECING         Saturday, January 9, 11:00am-2:00pm

Have you ever seen those hexagon quilts and wonder what it’s all about? Join Michelle Gajda for the class to learn how to do it. This is a hand sewing project, you just need to bring tiny needles, thread & some 5 inch scrap blocks.

If you like hand sewing, this is a perfect class for you.

WOOL AND EMBROIDERY: Block of the Month        Monday, January 11, 5:00-7:00pm.

Ever wanted to learn how to work with wool. We're going to have a monthly wool class every 2nd Monday of the month. Each month (Jan-Sept) you will learn new embroidery stitches while creating whimsical flowers. The flower patches will all be put together to make a wall-hanging with continued new embroidery stitches around the edges (Oct-Dec). Michelle Gajda shares her skill & knowledge of working with wool & embroidery stitches with the class.

If you are unable to make one of the monthly classes, the patterns will be available for purchase for $5.00.

Will need wool square kit & thread (available at shop), scissors (for paper & fabric), chenille needles (18-24) or needles with a large eye, Fons & Porter fabric glue stick, pencil/fabric pen & freezer paper.

HUNTER’S STAR SIMPLIFIED:           Saturday, January 16, 10:30am-3:30pm.

Join Betsy to learn how to make a simplified Hunters Star lap quilt, using only half square triangles and no "Y" seams. This is one of my favorite blocks (which is why it's on our shop...stop by and check out our "barn quilt"). You can do a 2 color quilt or a scrappy, multicolored quilt.

Super Bowl Sunday – Herringbone Quilt , Sunday February 7, 10:30-4:00pm

Herringbone pattern using 2 -10" layer cakes. I found a tutorial on the Missouri Star Quilt Company site and thought it would be a fun project for our Superbowl class. The possibilities are endless! Might be a good way to use some of your stash.  Carol and I will be doing the class this year!   The class will be off-site at the Williamstown Community Pre-School (next to the Williamstown Savings Bank) on Main Street. We’ll have plenty of room (and light). We’ll do a Pot-Luck.  More information to follow.  Call & sign up.  We should have a sample in the shop soon!

KIDS Class (yes, with machines!)                   Sunday, February 21, 12:30-2:30pm

Carol is putting together a series of classes designed for kids. She will be teaching the basics of sewing by machine.   We will be using pre-cut fabrics to make a small project.  Call to sign up now.  More information will be available shortly.

Hope you'll find time in your busy schedule to join us for a class.  Have a great day!!
